Two Days in the Alley
by Kalvin Satiacum

Two Days in the Alley is a reference to Firecracker Alley, Puyallup Tribe's bustling marketplace in the heart of Tacoma.  It is a historical document, photo journey, celebration of art and culture, and a testament to modern Indigenous life here in the Puyallup tribe.

Generous and Welcoming to All people

Firecracker Alley is located at 3509 72nd St E in Tacoma.

It is a community-driven marketplace where Puyallup tribal members celebrate and share their culture through delicious food, artisinal goods and, of course, lots and lots of fireworks!

Families often use their earnings to fund family trips and cultural events such as Powwows, canoe journeys, trips to water parks, or just to supllement their lifestyles.

Visitors come from all over to purchase fireworks from the more than 100 firework stands and engage in the family friendly activities, free fireworks show on July 1, and so much more.

Unfortunately, aside from 4th of July Fireworks celebrations, Indigenous entrepreneurs are often overlooked in today's global marketplace.

Two Days in the Alley is a story inspired by the vibrant culture and community of Firecracker Alley.  Through this book, we hope to share the unique perspective of local Puyallup natives, and to highlight the importance of preserving and celebrating Indigenous cultural heritage.
